March 15, 2023 -- Doulas Victimized by Fraud and Harassment

The Doula Association of Alberta (DAA) is cooperating with the Brantford Police Service (of Brantford, Ontario) on a criminal case affecting DAA Members and other Canadian doulas involving harassment, fraud, and sexual assault of doula professionals.


Kaitlyn Braun, 24, of Brantford, Ontario is facing a number of charges related to fraudulently seeking the assistance of registered doulas for false pregnancies and stillbirths between June 2022 and March 2023. The accused has also been shown to use other names including Kaitlyn Grace, Kate/Katie/Kaitlyn Ross, and Amber Timmons.


On Monday, March 13, 2023, the accused was arrested and charged. Charges are related to offences which are alleged to have occurred in multiple communities within Ontario, with a number of victims identified. Kaitlyn Braun stands charged with 10 counts of Criminal harassment, 12 counts of False Pretenses, 4 counts of Fraud, 3 counts of Sexual Assault, and 3 counts of Indecent Acts.


If you have personally been victimized by the actions of Kaitlyn Braun, the DAA extends our condolences and support. The DAA wishes to connect with affected Alberta doulas to facilitate processing and healing through mental health engagement, peer networks, and logistical support of any ongoing criminal-legal proceedings. Investigators believe that there may be additional victims. If you have had direct contact with Kaitlyn Braun between June 2022 and present and wish to press criminal charges, or if you wish to use your information to corroborate the existing charges laid in Ontario, you should:
